Vanderwerf, Sikora Move Up In CPD Silver League

Randy Vanderwerf moved up to second place after two wins to tie with Charles Sikora in this week's Champaign Park District's Silver League standings.

Playing three matches since the last since our last update on March 26, Vanderwerf posted two wins knocking off Mark Jones 7-6(5), 6-1 and Mike Bantz 6-0, 6-0.  In a third bout, he forced league leader Daniel O'Brien into a third-set after splitting the first two 6-4, 5-7. The victory would have put Vanderwerf in a tie for first place, but O'Brien (4-0) prevailed to win 10-8 and remain in sole possession of first place.

Sikora moved up two spots from fourth to second after taking slugging it out with Champaign native Mike Bantz 6-4, 6-4.
